Microsuction
Microsuction is a highly effective method of ear wax removal that involves using a gentle suction device to remove wax from the ear canal. Unlike traditional ear syringing, which can be uncomfortable and may carry risks of injury or infection, microsuction is a safer and more precise alternative.
During the procedure, our audiologist will use a hi-spec microscope to magnify x20 for complete visibility and depth perception, allowing for precise removal of wax without causing damage to the delicate structures of the ear.
Microsuction is particularly beneficial for those with sensitive ears or a history of ear problems.
Ear irrigation
If there is an excessive build-up of soft wax, irrigation can sometimes be faster and more comfortable for the patient. Our audiologists are experienced in all methods of wax removal. Using a specialised ear irrigator, a controlled flow of slightly warmed water is carefully directed into the ear canal to gently flush out the wax. The ear is then dried using specialist instruments.
Irrigation is not advised if you have a history of ear infections or ear surgery.
