Types of hearing aids
Hampstead Hearing offers a wide range of hearing aid styles, ensuring there’s a solution to suit different hearing needs, lifestyles and preferences.
- Behind-the-Ear (BTE): Sits behind the ear with a tube or wire leading into the ear canal. Suitable for mild to profound hearing loss.
- Receiver-in-Canal (RIC) / Receiver-in-the-Ear (RITE): Similar to BTE but smaller, with the speaker sitting inside the ear canal. Discreet and popular for mild to severe hearing loss.
- In-the-Ear (ITE): Custom-made to fit the outer part of the ear. Easier to handle and suitable for mild to severe hearing loss.
- In-the-Canal (ITC): Custom-made and fits partly inside the ear canal. Smaller and more discreet than ITE models, typically for mild to moderate hearing loss.
- Completely-in-Canal (CIC): Fits deep inside the ear canal and is very discreet. Suitable for mild to moderate hearing loss.
- Invisible-in-Canal (IIC): The smallest custom hearing aid, fitting deep in the ear canal and virtually invisible. Designed for mild to moderate hearing loss.
- Extended Wear hearing aids: Placed deep in the ear canal by an audiologist and worn continuously for several months. Invisible and removed only by a professional.
